Keywords
research questions, hypotheses, data collection, data analysis and interpretation,
Learning Goals
- Student is familiar with key research design concepts
- Students will be familiar with the various components of research design
- Studennts will know the role of hypotheses, the selection of appropriate methodologies, and considerations for data collection and analysis
- By practical examples students will learn about how to apply key theoretical elements
Expected Preparation
Learning Events to be Completed Before
None.
Obligatory for Students
- Search and select a research report on the web individually or in a small group (chosen/assigned by lecturer). Focus on the details of the planning and objectives selection part; what is it, how it were followed by research actions, what choices were made during the research project. Prepare a brief (maximum one page or 3 slides) report on your observations
Optional for Students
- Check in the documentation of an EU research call (e.g. Horizon Europe calls) what elements of a research project should be defined in the plan to submit.
References and background for students
- Creswell, John W., Research Design: Qualitative, Quantitative, and Mixed Methods Approaches, 4th Edition, SAGE Publications, Inc, 2023.
Recommended for Teachers
- Check the slides attached, revise the students brief report and select some of them to introduce.
