Phase 1: Introduction

Dear students,

Welcome to this WikiWijs lesson. As you know, your upcoming tests are in two weeks. Because of that, it is important to revise what you learned before the break in your English classes. This way you will refresh your memory.

This WikiWijs lesson is made so that you revise Unit 5 and 6 on your own(individually). Don't worry. The teacher will be present in the lesson and available if you have any questions. During this lesson we will cover only the grammar and vocabulary of these two units because we only have 40 minutes( even less actually). This means that some things you have to revise on your own at home or in class during another lesson.

Please take this lesson seriously and do your best. This is your chance to find out if there are things you still don't understand. And of course, ask questions about the things you don't understand.

Word search game units 5 & 6
Search for words that have to do with the vocabulary(5.1,6.1) and grammar(5.2,5.5,6.2) of unit 5 and 6. Words in this game: Badmington, Cyclist, Sailing, Yoga, Must, Should, Past Simple, Could, Basketball Player, Coursebook, Yoga, University, Primary School, Chemistry, Physics, Runner, Became, Learned.

You have 10 minutes to complete the exercises. Afterwards, check and correct your answers. There is an answer sheet available in phase 3(WikiWijs), where you can find the correct answers.

Phase 4

Instruction on working individually

Phase 1(5 minutes):
-Go through the PowerPoint, lesson programme, lesson goal and subgoals.
-Play the word search game.

Phase 2(10 minutes):
-Watch the educational video.

Phase 3(15 minutes)
-After watching the video's and completing the assigned exercises, open the answer sheet in fase 3(WikiWijs). Correct your answers if necessary.

Once you're done with that activity, you'll read this instruction in phase 4. Check if you finished everything so far. If not, please go back and finish the prior activities.

Phase 6(5 minutes): Continue with practising and revising by:
-playing the Revision Unit 5 & 6 Kahoot quiz. Read the sentences and answer choices carefully before you fill in the blanks.

Phase 7(5 minutes): Do the mini revision quiz and fill in the evaluation survey. Do not rush. Read and answer all questions carefully. Once you're finished, let the teacher know.

They say practice makes perfect. And it is often true! Via this link, you can practise more the grammar and vocabulary of units 5.1, 5.2, 5.5, 6.1 and 6.2

    Lesson goal: At the end of this lesson, the student has revised the grammar and vocabulary of unit 5 'Education' and Unit 6' Health and Sport' by watching the educational video-clips, doing the exercises and as last making the quiz (all which can be found in this Wikiwijs). Sub-goals per unit chapter: Vocabulary 5.1 The student can use language related to types of school, exams and tests. 6.1 The student can use language related to sports. Grammar 5.2 The student can express obligation, prohibition and give advice in the present and future using must/mustn’t or should/shouldn’t. 5.5 The student is able to use be and can in the Past Simple. 6.2 The student can make affirmative Past Simple statements using common regular and irregular verbs. Explanation lesson goal: Due to the limited amount of lesson time( 40 minutes), students will focus especially on revising the grammar and vocabulary of unit 5 and 6 .This means that the lesson revolves around unit chapters 5.2, 5.5, 6.2(grammar) and 5.1, 6.1(vocabulary). During the lesson the students will mainly work individually. They are encouraged to ask questions about things that are still unclear to them regarding the revision material, to which the teacher will provide answers and help. Additional information: This Wikiwijs lesson was made for 1K. 1K is a havo/vwo 'brugklas'. According to the Alfrink College, my current internship school, ‘bruklassen’ are described as the early years of high school. A time where students can decide whether they want to choose a HAVO or a VWO education. For the subject English, 1K uses Focus 1. Which is an A2/A2+ student s book.
