You are going to watch a video of Graham Martin who works at a recruitment agency.

  • Watch the video and do assignment 1.
  • Read the questions.
  • Watch the video again and do assignment 2.

Read the questions and decide which 5 you are going to discuss in your group.

  1. Do you have good employment prospects, or will you have, once you have left school?
  2. Do you ever look at the employment pages in newspapers? What other sources of information about positions can you think about?
  3. Do you think companies should offer employees lifetime employment? Why?
  4. Are there any conditions of employment you insist on? If so, what are these?
  5. Are there equal opportunities in employment in your country? Theoretically and practically? Consider sex, gender, skin, origins, etc.
  6. Would you like to be self-employed? Why do you or don't you?
  7. Do you think young people care enough about their employment prospects? Do you?
  8. What rules should there be regarding children and employment?
  9. Which countries and companies do you think offer the best employment opportunities? What makes you think so?
  10. What help should a government give those looking for employment? Why?

  • Write the letter (on your own).
  • Form groups of three or four pupils.
  • Read and discuss your work.
