1. Introduction

Wat is Generatieve AI? Soorten, Voordelen en Toepassingsmethoden Duidelijk UitgelegdWelcome to this e-learning about AI! Whether it's for generating new ideas or surprising literature suggestions, the number of applications is vast. And this number is growing steadily. To use AI responsibly in your studies, it's important to learn how to work with it. That’s why the VU University Library (UBVU), responsible for information literacy education, has created this e-learning. This e-learning is intended for beginning students. You are taking your first steps towards AI literacy!

After completing this e-learning, you will be able to:

  • Explain how AI tools and AI models are developed through the collection and processing of data
  • Identify relevant AI tools and language models
  • Assess when the use of AI tools is meaningful
  • Create effective prompts for searching and finding literature
  • Reflect on privacy and the origin of data
  • Correctly annotate AI output with attention to copyright

Completing the entire e-learning takes approximately 60 minutes. The duration depends on whether you go through all the sections. The content is alternated with assignments for assessment. Check your prior knowledge by taking the quizzes at the beginning of each chapter. And check your acquired knowledge at the end of each chapter.

Want to get up to speed on AI quickly? Go to the FAQ. Here, your most important questions are answered concisely.
