Abstract
This lesson suggestion focusses on all (socio scientific) topics which are relevant to students' everyday lives. These topics can pose endless relevant dilemmas within several disciplinary themes. In different cultural and/or religious backgrounds certain topics are not up for debate. Other topics/dilemma's might touch boundaries that are respected differently across certain social and/or cultural groups. These differences are of key importance to lessons focused on (socio scientific) dilemmas

Lesson activities
Dependent on the chosen dilemmas, an informative introduction with texts or videos can be given. Dilemmas can be used in lessons in many ways. Several examples of lesson activities based on dilemma's are given below. Your group and lesson goal will determine which activity fits best.
  • Let the students divide the dilemmas into groups: irrelevant, relevant, very relevant (or create areas (poster or table for example) in the room with these labels). Discuss in pairs or groups. Can they convince the group to agree on changing the placement of the dilemma?
  • Hand out or let the students pick three dilemmas and let them describe how they would overcome issues with these dilemmas.
  • Ask students to think of (other) dilemmas according to a lesson or relevant topic, for example ones that they did encounter in their daily lives?
