Working with WASP Reporter
Wasp what?
In HVX High, we will be using a magazine called Wasp Reporter to learn English with. This magazine contains various articles and assignments that go with them.
You will receive two Wasp Reporters at the beginning of the year: The Exam Issue (which we will work with throughout the year) and volume 21.1, which we will work with until November.
Each Wasp Reporter has a magazine (with articles) and a Student File (with assignments / vocabulary).
How do I get one?
If you have finished your placement test (see START HERE above), you can sign up for an English BloX and get a copy of your Wasp Reporter from Mrs Wams.
Do I need anything else?
Yes, a notebook for English is absolutely necessary. You will use this to write down longer answers that don't
What should I do with it?
Choose at least two articles (read them and do all the assignments!) per term. Choose articles that you find interesting, or that you think will help you practise a certain skill. You can work on these assignments whenever and wherever you want; sometimes your English coach will work in a BloX on a specific article.
How do I check whether I got the answers right?
There are two ways of doing this:
- Bring your notebook to an English BloX and ask your English coach for the Teacher's Book, which contains all the answers. Make sure to discuss any answers you find confusing!
- Use the online edition of Wasp Reporter (which you can access through Magister) to check your answers.
