1. Edinburgh
The capital of Scotland has everything for a successful city trip. The Scottish city is just over an hour's flight from the Netherlands and Edinburgh attractions include the castle (Edinburgh Castle), the Holyroodhouse palace and the Camera Obscura, all of which are located on the Royal Mile, the vein of Edinburgh. Combine this with nice neighborhoods such as Old Town, New Town and the picturesque Dean Village and numerous museums such as the National Museum of Scotland. Enough sights to keep you busy in Edinburgh for a few days.
2. Dubai
Need luxury? Then you will come into your own in this emirate, which is part of the United Arab Emirates. Everything here is bigger, more expensive and more, including the Dubai attractions. Think of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, the largest fountain in the world, the largest flower park in the world, the Ain Dubai as the tallest Ferris wheel. This combined with 7-star hotels such as Burj Al Arab and the chic Dubai Marina. Combine this with some authentic things such as the historic center with the Al Fahidi fort, souks, traditional abras on the Dubai Creek. You can easily take excursions to the sights in Abu Dhabi or go sand surfing in the desert with a desert safari. Be sure to book Burj Khalifa tickets in advance, as the skyscraper can have long queues.
3. Munich - Bavaria
This city in the south of Germany has so much more to offer than just Oktoberfest. The German city is about a 9-hour drive from the Netherlands, where you can make a nice stop in Hohenschwangau along the way. In this village is Schloss Neuschwanstein, the fairytale castle on which Disney Castle is based. Neuschwanstein is a huge tourist attraction, but nevertheless a nice stop on the way. So be sure to visit the Neuschwanstein Castle. In the vicinity is also the museum, the Marienbrücke and Hohenschwangau Castle. The town of Fussen can also be a nice place to spend the night in this region.
Italy Rome: the capital of Italy is of course number 1 in the list of cities in Italy worth seeing. With highlights such as the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the atmospheric Trastevere district and Castel Sant'Angelo (also known as the Castel Sant'Angelo), we already have a number of important attractions. Combine this with the sights in the Vatican City such as the Vatican Museums with the Sistine Chapel and the St. Peter's Basilica of the Pope and we have a very versatile city trip to Rome.
Florence: my personal favorite city in Italy. The capital of Tuscany, Florence (Italian: Firenze) is a very versatile city because of its history with the Medici family. The city experienced an enormous boom in the Renaissance, resulting in many beautiful palaces and museums from that time. First of all, of course, the Duomo, or Florence's cathedral with its magnificent dome and the adjacent baptistery. Be sure to visit the Uffizi museum with numerous famous paintings and sculptures. Complete your city trip by visiting the beautiful palaces Palazz Pitti (with the adjacent Boboli Gardens) and the Palazzo Vecchio in Piazza delle Signoria in the city center of Visit Florence. Other tips for sightseeing are the Medici chapels, the Galileo Galilei museum and the phenomenal view over Florence from Piazzale Michelangelo. You can easily enjoy yourself for a few days in Florence!
Venice: Perhaps the term overtourism is more appropriate in this city than mass tourism, but if you manage to cut through the great tourist crowds, it is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The city around the Grand Canal and located on the many islands in the Venice lagoon revolves around the water and canals. Be sure to take a traditional gondola ride and visit St. Mark's Square with top attractions such as the Palazzo Ducale (het Dogenpaleis) and St. Mark's Basilica. Also visit the Dorsoduro district, a lively student district with attractions such as the Galleria dell'Accademia and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Also, get lost and visit the beautiful Scuola Grande di San Rocco and the Jewish quarter in Cannaregio. Complete your Venice holiday with an island tour of Murano, Burano and Torcello.
Milan: Milan may be more interesting than you think. The city is best known as a fashion capital but certainly has a number of cultural highlights such as the Duomo, the Duomo Milaan where you should definitely visit the roof terrace. Then visit the Monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie, made famous for Leonardo Da Vinci's painting, The Last Supper. In the evening you visit the pleasant canal district I Navigli for an aperitivo, and during the day visit the nice Brera district with authentic shops and the Pinacoteca di Brera. Combine your holiday with a visit to San Siro, the shared stadium of AC Milan and Internazionale.
Naples: Naples sights. What to do in Naples, or Napoli oftewel Napels Italië in Italy? The city in the south of Italy in the Campania region has so many beautiful highlights and sights when you visit the Italian city for a city trip. For example, check out the underground Naples of the Neapolis or the Galleria Borbonica. The city of Naples has beautiful churches, world famous museums such as the Archaeological Museum and Capodimonte Napels. You can also make wonderful excursions outside the city, such as visiting the beautiful places on the Amalfi Coast. Or climb the Vesuvius volcano and afterwards visit Pompeii or Hercualeum, both of which are located close to Naples.
Spanien Barcelona: Einige mögen die katalanische Hauptstadt als zu touristisch empfinden, aber Barcelona hat immer noch seinen Charme. Es ist eine pulsierende Stadt mit wunderschönen Stadtstränden, einem wunderbaren Nachtleben und leckeren Tapas. Sevilla: Wenn Sie diese Stadt in Andalusien besuchen, können Sie die maurische Geschichte von Sevilla nicht verpassen. Der Höhepunkt ist bei weitem der Real Alcazar de Sevilla oder der königliche Palast. Darüber hinaus sollte die riesige Kathedrale mit dem angrenzenden Giralda-Turm nicht fehlen. Granada: Wer Granada sagt, ruft sofort den Namen des weltberühmten Alhambra-Palastes. Dieser maurische Palast ist so beliebt, dass er oft Wochen im Voraus ausverkauft ist, besonders wenn Sie Tickets einschließlich des wunderschönen Nasrid-Palastes erhalten möchten. Aber auch die angrenzenden Gärten mit dem Sommerpalast Generalife sind einen Besuch wert. In der Stadt Granada selbst sollten Sie unbedingt El Albayzin besuchen, das arabische Viertel mit engen Gassen, schönen Plätzen und dem arabischen Badehaus. Gehen Sie dann den Hügel hinauf nach Sacromonte, dem Höhlenviertel, wo Sie die Zigeuner treffen, die für Flamenco-Musik leben. Barcelone: Certains peuvent trouver la capitale catalane trop touristique, mais Barcelone a toujours son charme. Grenade: Celui qui dit Grenade appelle immédiatement le nom du célèbre palais de l'Alhambra. Ce palais maure est si populaire qu'il se vend souvent des semaines à l'avance, surtout lorsque vous souhaitez acheter des billets, y compris le magnifique palais nasride. Mais les jardins adjacents avec le palais d'été du Generalife valent également le détour. Dans la ville de Grenade elle-même, vous devez absolument visiter El Albayzin, le quartier arabe avec des ruelles étroites, de jolies places et les bains arabes. Puis montez la colline jusqu'au Sacromonte, le quartier des grottes où vous rencontrerez les gitans qui vivent pour la musique flamenco.
