Project A: Interview
You have reacted to an advertisement of an international band or an international theater company. As a result of your application you have been invited for an interview.
You will practice this conversation with a classmate.
Choose one of the two cards below and practice the conversation with your classmate. When you've practiced enough, you role-play for another group.
They use the rating form to rate your game.
You are going to give a talk about one of your own hobbies. The intention is that you first look up information and then figure out what you will and will not say during your presentation.
A good speech has the following structure:
Introduction: why you chose this topic.
Core: here you tell more about your chosen topic.
Try to tell your classmates as many new things as possible.
Closing: close your presentation and ask people if they have any questions.
You may only have some keywords on a piece of paper with you to give your speech.
Good luck!
Project C: Billy Joel
You are going to watch the official music video of the Piano man by Billy Joel.
You can read the lyrics below.
It's nine o'clock on a Saturday
the regular crowd shuffles in
There's an old man sitting next to me
Makin' love to his tonic and gin
He says, Son can you play me a memory
I'm not really sure how it goes
But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger man's clothes
La la la de de da
la la de de da da dum
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright
Now John at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my drinks for free
And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke
But there's someplace that he'd rather be
The last line reads:
"But there's some place that he'd rather be ".
In Dutch: "Maar er is een andere plek waar hij liever zou zijn".
Now work with a classmate to create a new verse for the song.
In the new verse you explain where John would rather be.
It doesn't have to rhyme, it is allowed of course.
Use your dictionary for words you want to use but don't know.
Project D: Review
In this assignment you will write a review in English.
A review is an article in which you give your opinion about, for example, a book, a film, a series or a play.
You often come across reviews in magazines or in newspapers, but also on the internet.
Select a book, movie, series or play that you want to write a review about.
When writing, consider the following:
Start your review with a catchy text to draw attention.
Write a brief summary or explanation of what you are writing about.
Give your own opinion and explain why you think so.
Use between 150 and 200 words.
Are you done with your review? Then have it read by a classmate.
Ask for comments.
Of course you also read her/his review.
Give feedback in a good way.
De onderstaande antwoorden moet je zelf nakijken; vergelijk jouw antwoorden met de goede
