To the west of England is the Irish Sea and to the southwest is the Celtic Sea. With the North Sea to the east and the English Channel to the south, England is isolated from Europe. The nation occupies 62.5 percent of the North Atlantic island of Great Britain and contains more than 100 smaller islands, such as the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Man.
The flag of England is called the Saint George's Cross. This name refers to the patron-saint of England, George of Lydda. England's symbol is that of a rose. The official colour is white. It's national animal is a lion.

Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom, is variously defined as a region, province or country. Northern Ireland, situated in the northeast of ireland, shares a southern and western border with the Republic of Ireland. The North Channel, the Irish Sea, and St George's Channel separates Northern Ireland from Great Britain. Ireland is the British Isles' second largest island.
The flag of Ireland is called the Ulster Banner. This is a medieval flag chosen from Northern Ireland 's old Coat of Arms. This flag was later changed into the Saint Patrick's Saltire, named after the patron-saint of Ireland: Saint Patrick. Ireland’s symbol is that of a shamrock. The official colour is green.

United Kingdom & Great Britain
United Kingdom
The United Kingdom, or officially the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, is one of the most important and famous countries in the world. It is often wrongly referred to as England. England is only a part of the United Kingdom. Also the name Great Britain is wrong, because this is the name of the island on which the UK lies for a part.
The United Kingdom is an independent state with approximately 65.8 million inhabitants. Through the conquest of global colonies, in the 19th century, the United Kingdom was the center of a world empire, the British Empire. Because of the large territory the United Kingdom became at one point the most powerful country in the world. In the course of the 20th century the UK lost a lot of territory.
Today's United Kingdom is located entirely on islands. Technically, the United Kingdom is a political union of four countries. These countries are not independent and are seen as a single country.
Great Britain
Great Britain, sometimes referred to as Britain, is an island off Europe's western coast, consisting of England, Scotland, and Wales. Great Britain also contains the smaller islands that lie just around the main island, such as the Orkneys Islands, the Shetland Islands and the Isle of Wight.
It was named 'Great' since it was often confused for Britognia in France by individuals. The flag of Great Britain is the cross of Saint George (red) and the cross of Saint Andrew (blue) combined.
The Union Flag
The Union Flag is the flag of the United Kingdom. It is given this name because it blends the crosses of the 3 countries together into one, the kingdoms of England and Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
The flag is formed by three coats of arms crosses. The symbol of Saint George, patron-saint of England, is a red cross on a white field.
After the succession of James I, the flag of England was combined with the cross of Saint Andrew. The cross of Saint Andrew, patron-saint of Scotland, is a diagonal white cross on a blue field.
After the Act of Union of Ireland with England( and Wales) and Scotland, the cross of Saint Patrck' Saltire was combined with the previous flag. The cross of Saint Patrick' Saltire, patron saint of Ireland, is a diagonal red cross on a white ground.
On the Union Flag, the Welsh dragon does not appear. It is because, as the first Union Flag was created, the kingdom of Wales had already been merged with England and was no longer an independent kingdom.
