What is an Elevator Pitch?
In this lesson, you will be learning about an Elevator Pitch. This is a good way to introduce yourself to someone in a short period of time.
You could use this at work or when networking with other people.
For this you will need to use Formal English in an professional environment.
Een elevatorpitch soms ook elevatorspeech genoemd, is een presentatiewijze van een idee voor een product, service of project. De naam geeft de tijdsduur weer waarin een lift van de onderste naar de bovenste verdieping gaat, in ongeveer 30 seconden tot 2 minuten.
This is an efficient way of introducing yourself to a new employer or a colleague.
Some examples of Formal and Informal Language.
Formal and Informal English
Formal language is less personal than informal language. It is used when writing for professional or academic purposes like university assignments. Formal language does not use colloquialisms, contractions or first person pronouns such as ‘I’ or ‘We’. Informal language is more casual and spontaneous. It is used when communicating with friends or family either in writing or in conversation. It is used when writing personal emails, text messages and in some business correspondence. The tone of informal language is more personal than formal language.
Formele taal is minder persoonlijk
dan informele taal. Het wordt gebruikt bij het schrijven voor professionele of academische doeleinden, zoals
universitaire opdrachten. Formele taal gebruikt geen spreektaal, weeën of eerste persoon
voornaamwoorden zoals ‘ik’ of ‘wij’.
Informele taal is informeler en spontaner. Het wordt gebruikt bij het communiceren met vrienden of
familie schriftelijk of in gesprek. Het wordt gebruikt bij het schrijven van persoonlijke e-mails, sms-berichten
en in sommige zakelijke correspondentie. De toon van informele taal is persoonlijker dan
formele taal.
