Dear students,

This week is dedicated to grammar; 'Present Simple' and 'Present Continuous'. In this unit you will learn how and 
when to use the 'Present Simple' and 'Present Continuous'. 

You are going to work on unit 1 and you will have to use your chromebook and you must therefore bring your own 
earplugs.

Present Simple vs Present Continuous

Starttest

You will start with a so called starttest to see what you already know about the 'Present Simple' and 'Present Continuous'. Once you have made the test, you can see your score. If you have 12 points or less you belong to the green group. Between 13 - 15 points you belong to the blue group. If you score 16 points or more, you belong to the red group. Based on these colors, you will continue to work on the grammar exercises. If you think you fully understand the grammar exercises of you group, you are allowed to switch color. Do not forget to write this on your workplan!

Introduction

Project X stands for a various set of mini projects where you will have to do some online research. This means that you have to read information, watch videos and answer questions. You must put all the information in a document and share it with the teacher. You are allowed to make this assignment in duos. This means that you are going to work on the assignment in pairs and you can choose which subject you want to do reserach on. You also need to give a short presentation about your project. You will have two lessons for this mini project! Check the list below to see what is expected of you and what should be in the document. Good luck!

- Choose a topic that appeals the most to you

- Read the instructions carefully and start with a task division.

- Every assignment has a few sources suggested, use these

- Read the online information carefully and make sure you write in your own words

- Answer all questions of your subject and create a document with a front page

- Hand in the assignment via google classroom

- Give a short presentation about your subject

There are about 195 acknowledged countries worldwide! You are going to do some research on a country. You are allowed to choose the country, but keep in mind you will be asked to elaborate on you choice. On the internet you can find a lot of information, but make sure you use your own words. Good luck!

3. Give a short summary of the history of your chosen country.

Project Black History Month

Black History Month is an annual celebration. You will do research on this topic. On the internet you can find a lot of information about the black history month, make sure you use your own words. Good luck!

You will have to  describe what the Black History Month entails and why it is celebrated. Then you must choose two persons from that time and you are going to do research on them. You must  answer the following questions

 

- What is the name of the person? When was he/she born?

- When did they die? How did they die?

- Some childhood facts and family information

- Why is this person famous? What did she/he do?
