Let’s look at must/have to.
Look at these sentences:
We have a new art teacher. We have to do our homework.
The exhibition is fantastic. You must see it!
Complete the rules:
- We use must /have to* when we are talking about something that is necessary/very important to do.
- We use have to/must* when we are obliged (we have no choice) to do something.
- You can use must/have to/both* when you think something is necessary especially if you are saying what you think.
- Use must/have to* when it is a fact, or when you are not giving your opinion.
* Delete if not applicable
Which sentences are correct? Write down.
- What a super film! You must see it!
- You have to paint the sky blue!
- I must take my medicine now.
- Sorry we’re late. We had to go to the garage.
- All nurses at this hospital must work at weekends.
- Jacqueline must go to the gallery at 3pm.
