Instructions for the assignments & information about the test

Instructions for the wordlist and sentences

  1. While you read, underline any words and expressions that you don’t know.
  2. Answer the questions. Open questions need to be answered in English.
  3. On a separate sheet of paper: make a wordlist (English – Dutch), by looking up the meaning of the words and expressions that you have underlined. Be careful: make sure you look at the context in which the word is used (is it a verb, a noun, an adjective etc. and what does the word mean in this sentence?)
  4. Choose 5 words or expressions from your wordlist and write a correct and meaningful sentence with each of them, so 5 sentences in total. In each sentence you have to add at least 6 words to the word/expression itself.
  5. Underline the word/expression in the sentence.
  6. Your wordlist and sentences will be put in your portfolio, which is used to evaluate your effort and development.

Instructions for the 1-minute presentations

You need to prepare a 1-minute talk about your text.  This needs to be a structured and well-prepared talk, so not just an improvisation. If there is anything in your text that you don't understand, make sure you look it up to find more information.
