Other sides to the truth
If last week’s lesson has taught you anything, it is that almost anything can be twisted in some way to start a discussion. A regular topic of discussion for instance is extra-terrestrial life (buitenaards leven) and other mysteries like the existence of Bigfoot. This week we will discuss some of these topics and you will have a debate in class.
To get an idea, there will be some preparing to do at home.
Flipping the classroom: before you come to class, watch the GMM videos at home and answer the questions as an introduction to the topic. Then watch the video on ‘How to debate’ and read the instructions. In class, we are going to have a debate on some of the topics discussed.

While watching:
1. Listen to the video and write down any difficult words. When you’re done watching, try and explain what the word means in your own words or look them up.

After watching:
Look up a mystery that has or hasn’t been solved yet.
- If it has been solved: write about the mystery and how they have solved it.
- If it hasn’t been solved: write about the mystery and explain what they could do to solve it.
Debate
The class will be divided into different groups. You will debate a topic and you will be assigned your stance (standpunt) on the matter. The debate is with your classmates.
