Before you start...
During the next few classes we're going to focus on making a menu card and opening up our own restaurant! You will come up with a name for your restaurant, think about the dishes you would like to serve, the opening hours, and eventually give a short presentation to pitch your restaurant idea.
Before we focus on making the menu card and preparing for our presentation, we would like you to focus on some basic grammar subjects. Do the following tasks before you start working on your menu card as it will help you explain these parts correctly during your presentation.

Uitbreiding
Task 2 - Poster time

Task 3 - Design your own Menu Card & Presentation
Have you ever dreamt of opening your own restaurant? What would your restaurant look like? What name would you give your restaurant? And more importantly, what food would you serve? Individually, you are going to design your own menu card and give a short presentation about your restaurant! You are going to design your menu card in Microsoft Word, or you can use programs like Canva. Also, you can use pictures from the internet or from magazines to show what it would look like or how the food looks.
You are going to make your own menu card. To show your computer skills and teach you something new, you can use Microsoft Word to make your menu card (more information is down below). Be creative about what kind of restaurant you want to have and what the food will be like. Also think of the prices of the food and drinks (in $ or in £), opening days and opening hours (de dagen van de week en de klok) of your restaurant, and create a catchy slogan! Below you can find the minimum number of items, but you can include more.
Basic Menu Card information

Your menu card has to include:
a) A name for your restaurant
b) At least 5 cold drinks (fizzy drinks, juices etc.) with prices
c) At least 5 hot drinks (tea, special coffees, hot cocoa etc.) with prices
d) At least 4 starters (salads, prawn cocktail etc.) with prices
e) At least 4 main courses (steak, fish & chips etc.) with prices
f) At least 4 desserts (brownies, ice creams etc.) with prices
Your menu card also includes:
g) a catchy slogan
h) opening days and opening hours (de dagen van de week en de klok) in words, not numbers.
ICT-Geletterdheid - computer skills
In order to help you with the lay-out of your menu card, you're going to follow the steps below. Don't forget: these steps are mandatory (= verplicht) if you use Microsoft Word.
Be creative and have fun!

Task 4 - Presentation
Next week, you’re going to give a small presentation in which you present your restaurant and menu card. This presentation has to be 3 minutes. You're going to do the presentation alone and in English. You can bring a small piece of paper for notes (kernwoorden) and you can print your menu card or show it on the Digiboard.
