Uitleg/explanation

We use word order to make a sentence more coherent, which means that it becomes easier to understand. Words need to be in a certain order to be a correct sentence. There are some rules on how this can be done.

A sentence almost always consists of SVO (Subject, Verb, Object):

I ate breakfast

Also, some words indicate where something is taking place and when something is taking place.

They are hiking in the mountains

He threw a big party at his house

There is a big village across the river

The party starts at 7 PM.

The plants grow in spring.

I go to work every day.

But what happens when you have both When and Where in one sentence? In that case, you always put the 'When' at the end of the sentence.

She goes to the lake every Friday.

To the Lake = Where?

Every Friday = When?

We gebruiken de woordvolgorde om de zin duidelijker te maken, zodat de zin ook beter te begrijpen wordt. worden in het Engels staan vaak in een bepaalde volgorde om het correct te maken. hiervoor zijn een paar regels:

Een zin bestaat vaak uit SVO (Subject, Verb, Object):

I ate breakfast

Ook, laten sommige woorden zin wanneer iets plaatst vind en waar het plaats vind.

They are hiking in the mountains

He threw a big party at his house

There is a big village across the river

The party starts at 7 PM.

The plants grow in spring.

I go to work every day.

Maar, wat gebeurd er als waar en wanneer in dezelfde zin staan? In dit geval zet je de wanneer aan het einde van de zin neer.

She goes to the lake every Friday.

To the Lake = Waar?

Every Friday = Wanneer?
