2 - The story

A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens is a story about the very grumpy Ebenezer Scrooge. The story was published in 1843 and is very well known. My favorite rendition of A Christmas Carol was done by the muppets. Ebenezer Scrooge meets 3 ghosts in this story, the ghost of the past, the ghost of the present and the ghost of a christmas yet to come. In this class we will zoom in on the ghost of the past. After the past we will continue the story in the next class.

Watch the video below and listen to the lyrics of the song, the muppets use a lot of different adjectives to describe Scrooge. Do you think the muppets like Scrooge?

Kijk de video hieronder en luister naar de tekst van het liedje, de muppets gebruiken veel verschillende bijvoeglijk naamwoorden voor Scrooge. Denk jij dat de muppets Scrooge aardig vinden?

Now we've met Ebenezer Scrooge, how do you feel about Christmas? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULaNvmjZWxg

The Ghost of Christmas Past.

The Ghost of Christmas Past visits Ebenezer in the middle of the night. She is going to take him back in time. Flying through old memories like flipping through a photo album. He sees himself growing up and perhaps making decisions he doesn't like very much after all.

Scrooge isn't a kind man, he's all about work and making a profit at all costs. The three ghosts of Christmas, ghost of Christmas past, ghost of Christmas present and the ghost of a Christmas yet to come are trying to save him from a time spend in hell with all the other greedy men. First, dive into the past (tense).
