Simple past

To talk about something in the past, use the (simple) past or past tense.
Use the past simple to talk about something that happened in the past at a certain point in time.

With regular verbs you make the simple past by placing a '-d' or '-ed' behind the entire verb.
There are exceptions to this rule. These are the irregular verbs (also see the verbs section).

Examples regular verbs

A verb ending in '-y' gets '-ied' in the past tense.

Sometimes you have to double the letter at the end of the word.
