Relative pronoun
Most commonly used relative pronouns: who, which and that.
- Who refers back to a person.
- He is the man who wanted to say something.
- Which refers back to previously mentioned animals or things.
- The cat, which you see over there, is mine.
- That can refer back to persons as well as to animals and things.
In most sentences you can also do without the word 'that'.
- Is this the book (that) you wanted to borrow?
- All the people (that) I met told me a different story.
