Word order

The word order in English sentences is usually as follows:

Who

does

what

where

when

I

drink

a glass of soda

at school

every day.

Billy

next door

five minutes ago.


Important rule: place always comes before time!

Put the place and time at the back of the sentence. Place and time can also be at the start of the sentence.

For questions you do not start with the subject but with an interrogative pronoun and/or an (auxiliary) verb.
