New York City bans the sale of supersized fizzy drinks
New York City has become the first place in the United States to ban the sale of supersized sugary drinks. The new law will make it illegal to sell fizzy drinks in cups bigger than half a litre.
The former city's Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, wanted to bring in the ban to tackle obesity, but lots of people aren't happy about it. One New York business owner said: "We are smart enough to make our own decisions about what to eat and drink." Groups who are against the new law say they'll continue to fight against it being introduced. Diet drinks and fruit juices aren't included in the ban, so these can still be sold in bigger sizes. Restaurants who break the rules could be fined up to £120.

Coca-Cola
The Coca-Cola Company is a soft drinks giant that was established in 1886. Its mission is “to strive to refresh the world, inspire moments of optimism and happiness, create value and make a difference”. It often tops the list of being the world’s most recognizable brand. Its iconic Coca Cola drink, also known as Coke, started life as medicine. Today it is one of the biggest selling products on the planet. The company website says its 3,300+ beverages are sold in over 200 countries. The company sells 1.6 billion drinks a day and employs close to 100,000 people. One secret to the company's phenomenal success is what it calls the 'Coca-Cola system' - the more than 300 worldwide bottling partners that work together to distribute its products. Another is its catchy advertising slogans, such as “Coke Is It”. Its biggest rival is Pepsi.
