Of course, these are not the only expressions for likes and dislikes. There are more and you will learn them in time.

In the table you can see x as part of the expression. Wat is x ? X can mean two things.

When you are talking about doing something, you use an -ing word.

 

I like swimming.

VERB + -ing

I enjoy

I don't mind

 

EXAMPLE

I like people giving me gifts.

I don't mind travelling by bus.

I don't like friends asking me money.

I hate dogs barking at me.

 

Be careful where you put very much or a lot. These words should go after the thing that you like.

Incorrect: I like very much reading. Correct: I like reading very much.

Incorrect: I like a lot basketball. Correct: I like basketball a lot.
