In deze opdracht ga je teksten lezen en video's kijken die met wonen te maken hebben. Je kunt kiezen uit de niveaus pre-A1, A1, A2 en B1+.

  1. Ga naar deze website om een filmpje te kijken over het huis van actrice Jessica Alba. Beantwoord ook de vragen die tijdens het filmpje in het beeld komen.
  2. Welke kamer uit Jessica's huis vond je het mooiste? Waarom? Zoek een plaatje van die kamer via Google
  3. Maak een Keynote- of Pages document, plaats de foto van de kamer erin en schrijf 3-4 zinnetjes in het Engels over de kamer.
    1. This is the ... (living room / kitchen / bedroom / bathroom / etc)
    2. In this room, you can see ... (a sofa / a bathtub / some chairs / etc)
    3. In this room, they ... (sleep / have dinner / watch TV / etc)
    4. I like this room because ...

Step-by-step plan - listening

  1. Go to this website to watch a video about very unusual houses. There is a question after each fragment in the video.
  2. Which of the houses was your favourite? Use Google to find an article about that house. Hint: the website www.mymodernmet.com is an architectural website that features most of the houses in the video.
  3. Read the article you found in step 2.
  4. In Pages/Keynote, write a short report about the house you chose in which you...
    1. add a picture of the house;
    2. write where the house is and when it was built;
    3. write 2-3 sentences describing the house;
    4. write 2-3 sentences about why you think the house is interesting.
  5. Export your document as a PDF and post it via Seesaw.

  1. Download the corresponding PDF(s) below and do the exercises.
  2. Check your work with the answers you find at the bottom of this page.

Step-by-step plan - reading

  1. Download the PDFs 'Homes reading - B1+' and 'Homes reading tasks - B1+' below.
  2. In the tasks-file, do exercise 1 first. You can either do this alone and write down the answers, or you can ask one of your classmates to do this in a videochat with you - in English, of course!
  3. Then, read one or both of the texts in the reading file.
  4. Do exercise 2 about one of the two houses.
  5. Do exercise 3 like you did exercise 1: either alone and in writing, or with a classmate in a videochat.
