Analysis Principle

Hydrogenperoxide (H2O2) is usually found in the form of an aqueous solution. In this titration the strength of the solution is 3%. The following reaction occurs when a potassium permanganate solution is added to the peroxide-solution. This peroxide solution is acidified with sulphuric acid. The first drops of potassium permanganate will be decolorized slowly but then the reaction proceeds rapidly. Mn2+ is a catalyzer for this reaction.
