Tourism

Tourism

Introduction

Dear students,

Next year you will all be going on a new adventure with regard to Tourism. By this we mean your internship.
We hope that you all are very enthusiastic about the idea of going on your final internship before you graduate.
Therefore, we created this 'wikiwijs' in which you will learn all about it!

In this 'leerarrangement' you will prepare yourself for your next internship by means of a letter of application and a presentation.
The goal is that you gain insights in where you want to do your internships, and how you will go about in doing so.

Don't panic just yet, we will guide you through it by means of this 'wikiwijs' and the lessons.

Kind regards,
Your English teachers,
Joritta Opdam,
Yvonne van der Velde,
Grieteke Posthumus

Before you start

What are you going to do?

Before going on your internships you will need to ask yourselves the following questions:

- Where would I like to go? Hotel, hostel, bed and breakfast, the airport, campsite
- What would I like to do/learn?
- How long do I want to travel each day?
- Do I want to stay here, or go abroad? And if so, how will I pay for it?

Maybe you can think of more questions yourself?

After deciding where you want to go and how you will go about it, you start making your letter of application
You:

- Introduce yourself
- Explain why do you want to go there, what your motivation is
- Explain what you want to learn
- Explain what your goals are

Explain to the reader why you chose this and what your motivation is.
Sell yourself!!

You will hand in the letter two days before the last lesson, either on paper on through email.

Your final product will be a presentation where you explain to the class where you would like to go what your motivation is, and how you will go about this. (In detail!) Basically, the presentation is a replica of your letter.
You:

- Introduce yourself
- Explain why do you want to go there, what your motivation is
- Explain what you want to learn
- Explain what your goals are

Your presentation needs to be:

- In understandable English
- Appealing
- Readable
- Inspiring
- Good structured
- Covering every element of the above

The presentations are to be held in lesson four.

Questions? Ask your teachers.

Good luck!!
