Now look at these pictures again and answer the questions. Discuss with your partner.

  • What do you think each job in the pictures involves?

Speaking exercise

Role play

Work in pairs. One of you is the interviewer and the other is the candidate. The candidate is applying for a job. Decide together which job you want to talk about. Then act out the interview. The candidate must use at least one phrase from Exercise 3.

 

Example interview for a nuring job:

Interviewer: Why would you be good at this job?
Candidate: I have an eye for detail. I can keep calm under pressure when I help patients.

Interviewer: What experience do you have?
Candidate: I worked in a hospital for two years. I looked after patients and helped doctors.

Interviewer: Can you work in a team?
Candidate: Yes. I work well with other nurses and doctors. I am a good listener.
