Introduction

Dear students,

This lesson will be completed through Wikiwijs. This may be a new way of learning for some of you. You will work independently and in silence on the assignments provided. If you see an assignment that requires collaboration, you may work together, but please do so quietly/whispering.

The assignments in this Wikiwijs are related to the topics that will appear on your test week. Almost every topic contains three different assignments. You are free to choose which assignment you want to complete, but make sure you complete one for each topic. I will check which assignments you have done.

After finishing the assignments, you will take a short test. This test is meant to check whether you understand the material and if the information has been clearly understood. I will review your test and send feedback where needed to each of you.

Finally, there will be a short survey at the end. Please take a moment to fill it in, as it will help me improve the lesson.

Lesson Goals

Below you will find the lesson goals for today:

  • At the end of the class, the student can choose and use at, in, and out correctly to express location in different contexts.

  • At the end of the class, the student can recognise and accurately use reported speech in both spoken and written English.

  • At the end of the class, the student can use modal verbs correctly to express certainty, possibility, and ability.

  • At the end of the class, the student can use as and like correctly to describe roles, functions, and comparisons.

  • At the end of the class, the student can read and understand English texts and answer comprehension questions to demonstrate understanding.

At the end, you will fill in a short survey where you answer the question: “Have I achieved the lesson goals?”

Instruction

A new way of working in class can sometimes be confusing. Below you will find a short explanation of how to complete the assignments. If you have any questions or problems, feel free to come to me for help.

What:
You will complete the assignments provided under the “Assignments” tab. After finishing the assignments, you will take a short test to check your understanding. Everything will be checked by me. Almost every topic contains three difficulty levels. My advice is to start with the first level (FINISH AT LEAST ONE ASSIGNMENT OF EACH TOPIC:)).

How:
Click on the tab where you want to begin. I recommend trying all the assignments, because this helps you see how well you understand the material. If you can complete all assignments without mistakes, you are doing very well.

Help:
You may use your Student Book and Workbook. You can also use the word list in Google Classroom (Units 8–10). You are also allowed to whisper with your neighbour (required when it tells you to).

Time:
You may use the entire lesson (60–70 minutes) to complete the work.

Result:
The assignments are completed and submitted, and you have taken the test to check your understanding.

Finished:
When you are done, you may continue studying English independently or read a book quietly.
