1.1 Tag questions

What are tag questions?

 

 

Explanation:

 

Een tag question is een korte vraag aan het eind van de zin die je gebruikt om bevestiging te vragen.

 

Herhaal de persoonsvorm en het persoonlijk naamwoord uit de hoofdzin in de tag question

 

Positieve hoofdzin = Negatieve tag question                Negatieve hoofdzin = Positieve tag question

You are a runner, aren’t you?                                        You aren’t happy, are you?

 

Als de hoofdzin geen vorm van to be en geen hulpwerkwoord heeft, gebruik dan in de tag question een vorm van to do

You know who he is, don’t you?

 

 

Beware!

I krijgt in een negatieve tag question met to be een onregelmatige persoonsvorm:

I’m a good basketball player, aren’t I?

 

Bij een positieve tag question, gewoon normale vorm:

I’m not a good basketball player, am I?

A lot of: alleen in bevestigende zinnen (normale zinnen)

I have a lot of money

 

Much/many: vragende – ontkennende zinnen

Do you have much money?

I don’t have many friends.
