Welcome to online lesson 1 of English!

Due to the circumstances this lesson is offered online. Hopefully you will be able to hand in the two assignments. This lesson takes +/- 60 minutes, but some will need less or more time.

Today's lesson is about Italy's specialty: Pizza. You are going to practice with listening, reading and writing.

Goals:
At the end of the lesson you have practiced with listening through a video and questions and you have written a foodblog in English about a country and its delicacies.

Exercise 1: Watch video

You are going to watch an episode of 'The Pizza Show'. The host, Frank Pinello, travels around the world to learn about the different approaches of making pizza. In this video he is in the birthplace of pizza: Naples.

Watch the video and try to answer the questions below the video.

You get a phonecall. It is a woman of a talent agency who just ate at the restaurant of your internship. She loved what you cooked and asked your manager for your phonenumber. The woman of the talent agency asks you if you want to have your own foodshow similar to 'The Pizza Show'. They want you to make a 6 episode series.

The woman of the talent agency wants you to write down your ideas in a foodblog.

Write down in 150 words:

  • Which country you would like to visit
  • For how long you will stay there
  • Who you will take with you on the trip
  • What delicacies that country is known for
  • Which cities/regions you would like to visit
  • What you will eat or cook in every city/region
  • What you would like to cook or learn how to cook
  • What you would like to earn per episode
  • How the show should be called
  • etc. you can come up with your own ideas, be creative :)
